"MASTERSPEC is of great benefit to our practice. It is a valuable resource for us in writing specifications and researching the latest information about changes in products and industry standards for our clients. The evaluation sheets with each section are of particular value - an education in themselves. We consult them constantly to learn why products and systems should or should not be used in particular situations as well as about proper methods of product installation. And, if we have additional questions that are not addressed by the evaluations, we can phone the ARCOM office and speak to the specification writers directly. They are, without exception, willing to discuss any issue regarding the sections they have written."

Founded in 1982, Heller and Metzger, PC., a six person independent specifications consulting firm, is dedicated to providing quality architectural specifications and technical services to their clients. As one of the largest specification consulting firms in the US, Heller and Metzger has been at the forefront of developing customized specifications suited to the demanding and unique designs of their various clients.  They have prepared over 600 project manuals for a wide range of institutional, commercial, educational, performing arts, historic renovation, interior, residential, and transportation and governmental facilities representing a cumulative construction budget of over six billion dollars.

In their 23-year history, Heller and Metzger has worked with more than forty design firms, including the firms of three American Institute of Architecture (AIA) Gold medal winners.  In addition, they enjoy a reputation for high quality work.

Dave Heller, Vice President of Heller and Metzger, has used MASTERSPEC in one form or another for over 29 years. Others at the firm who write specifications have always used MASTERSPEC, either as the basis for their own office masters, or “outof the box.”  According to Dave, “The evaluation sheets are a wonderful source of information and education, especially for sections we use infrequently.  Using MASTERSPEC saves a lot of time doing research, especially for sections for which we do not have our own office masters.  By saving us time, MASTERSPEC saves us money.”
