National World War II Memorial in Washington, DC
The National World War II Memorial in Washington, DC covers more than seven acres, more than two-thirds of which are trees, plantings, and water. The public portion of the Memorial is comprised of the central Rainbow Pool and Plaza, surrounded by a colonnade of stone pillars and arches; the Freedom Wall; the ceremonial entrance from 17th Street; a small, quiet Contemplation Area in the northwest corner of the Memorial area; and an information pavilion and a comfort station.
