New: Independent Study Test for Sustainable Design (SD) Credit

All active AIA members must successfully complete 18 learning unit (LU) hours each year, with at least 8 of the 18 LU hours relating to health, safety, and/or welfare (HSW). AIA now requires that at least four of the eight HSW LU hours be in sustainable design (SD) topics. ARCOM can help!

ARCOM has provided the popular MasterSpec Academy Independent Study program for many years. This program gives MasterSpec clients who are AIA members the opportunity to earn LU by reading MasterSpec Sections and their companion research information, and passing a related test with an 90% score - at no cost. ARCOM's Independent Study program tests qualify for HSW credit, providing MasterSpec clients a free and convenient way to fulfill their HSW requirements as well.

ARCOM strives to provide quality continuing education opportunities and is currently developing tests to give MasterSpec clients the opportunity to fulfill AIA/CES SD credit requirements. The first, Section 329500 - Vegetated Roof Assemblies, is on our Web site. This first test is only available to ARCOM clients who have licensed the Expanded A/S/C Library. Expect to see a few more SD credit opportunities in the near future; several will be issued with the August/September 2009 update.
