MasterFormat 2016 Changes Impact MasterSpec and SpecText Sections

You will notice that the latest MasterSpec and SpecText updates include several sections that underwent section number and section title changes to comply with revisions in MasterFormat 2016. Maintained by the Construction Specifications Institute, MasterFormat is updated every two years to reflect changes in the construction industry. To ensure that our users have the most up-to-date files available, ARCOM has changed the default installation from updating your existing folder to creating a unique “MasterSpec with MF16 update” or “SpecText with MF16 update” folder that contains current copies of all the files in your subscription.

The National Fire Prevention Association (NFPA) first developed NFPA 80: Standard for Fire Doors and Other Openings Protectives in 1912 under the title Rules for Fire Protection Coverings for Openings in Walls and Partitions on the Interior of Buildings. NFPA 80 has been adopted into the International Building Code (IBC) since the IBC's inception in 2000, and it has also been adopted into NFPA 101: Life Safety Code. Read more...

ARCOM SpecBuilder 2.0 Early Release is available to select customers

The ARCOM SpecBuilder team has been working diligently to enhance SpecBuilder with improvements spanning speed, usability, collaboration, and distribution of MasterSpec® content compared to the SpecBuilder 1.6 version.

We value your opinion and would like your feedback on how we can continue to perfect the product. SpecBuilder client Chris Savage, Project Manager at studio g ARCHITECTURE, tried the early release and said, “If I could, I would buy stock in this program!”

If you are a current SpecBuilder client and interested in participating in the preview of the early release of SpecBuilder 2.0 please send us an email.

"We are a multi-office, multi-national firm, and we rely on MasterSpec® for our specifications. It is an important and useful tool. We have looked at competing specification programs and have found MasterSpec's content to be more fully formed and thorough. The best part, that we find invaluable, is the supporting documents, especially the evaluation sheets."
