SECTION 05210 - STEEL JOISTS

In addition to general MasterSpec instructions for coordinating Drawings with Specifications, Drawings should indicate the following information related to this Section:

    Locations and extent of steel joist work. Show steel joist types and sizes using Steel Joist Institute (SJI) standard markings.
    Locations and extent of special joists and joist substitutes.
    Load diagrams for special joists. Indicate design loads including live, dead, and lateral loads; loading combinations; and magnitudes and locations of concentrated loads.
    Joist end arrangements. Indicate whether underslung, underslung with bottom-chord extensions, or square ended.
    Details of bearing plates and anchorages into supporting concrete or masonry construction.
    Floor and roof openings.
    Joist headers for K-series joists if applicable.
    Bridging details.
    Deflection limitations.
    Camber requirements if departing from SJI's Standard Specifications, Load Tables and Weight Tables for Steel Joists and Joist Girders.
    Roof-joist top-chord configuration and pitch.
    Roof-joist slope requirements.
    Locations, details, and designations of welded connections. Indicate sizes and number of welds.
    Locations, details, and designations of bolted connections. Indicate diameter and number of bolts. Indicate bolt material and quality if different bolt types are required.
    Sizes and spacing of holes in chords for securing wood nailers and other construction.
    Locations, extent, and details of construction if joists form part of a fire-resistance-rated assembly. Coordinate special requirements for sizes of components and bridging with UL or ITS design assemblies.
    Details of joist cantilevers, top-chord extensions, and extended ends.
    Locations of ceiling extensions.
    Locations and details of sloped end bearings.
