FAQs - Renewing MasterSpec

Why do I need to renew my license each year?

MasterSpec is regularly updated to provide specifiers, architects, engineers, and other design professionals the most thorough, up-to-date, and industry-recognized specification system available. Your license allows you to:

  • Access the information provided in MasterSpec during the period of your license
  • Receive critical updates that keep your information current
  • Take advantage of free continuing education programs
  • Access Masterworks software upgrades
  • Receive technical and specification support

Once you choose not to renew your license, you forfeit the rights to continue using MasterSpec and must return or destroy the system.

How do I renew my license each year?

Outlined below are the steps that your office will need to take to renew its MasterSpec license:

  • The client will receive an invoice 45 days before it's due. After 60 days the license will expire.
  • Once the invoice is received, payment can be made by returning the black & white copy with payment to our office. Methods of payment include: check, purchase order, wire transfer, or credit card.
  • To receive the member price please include a national membership number from one of the nine associations listed on the invoice. If no number is provided, the list price will be applied.
  • If a client wishes to make changes to an invoice please call our office and speak to one of our license renewal coordinators. Once a change is requested, we will provide the client with a revised invoice for their records.
  • If an invoice has been misplaced or was not received in the mail, the client can call our office and speak to a member of our renewal department and we will gladly mail, email, or fax a copy back to you.

With ARCOM's continuing efforts to go green, we hope to provide all our clients with the option to renew their license online. We are also presently looking into ways we can email our invoices and renewal notices.

What happens if I don't renew?

If you choose not to renew your license, you forfeit the rights to continue using MasterSpec, including office masters produced from MasterSpec, and must return or destroy the system.

Are renewal discounts available?

ARCOM offers renewal discounts that are similar to those offered to new licenses:

  • Member Discounts — A 10% discount on MasterSpec licenses is available to current members of national professional organizations that endorse MasterSpec:  ACEC, AIA, ANLA, ASID, ASLA, CASE, CSI, IIDA,  and NSPE. To be eligible, let us know the organization's name, your name, and member number (provided by that organization). Member discounts are not available for SpecWare licenses.
  • Multiyear License Discounts — Discounts of 10 to 20% are available for those who renew MasterSpec licensing for multiple years.
  • Quantity Discounts — Discounts of 10 to 30% are available to firms who license the same library for multiple sites or multiple seats of the SpecWare software (single billing address and expiration date required).
